Details: Part time - 28 hrs/wk

About the Job

ORAM, an international humanitarian organisation, and our Berlin-based office, that is leading our Ukraine humanitarian response, is looking for a Project Assistant to work closely with the Ukraine Project Manager. The successful candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and be passionate about supporting refugees and LGBTIQ displaced persons. 

Responsibilites

  • Liaise with project partners and stakeholders, including other NGOs, government agencies, and community organizations in Germany. 

  • Assist in conducting vetting interviews to book short term accommodation for LGBTIQ Ukrainian refugees.  

  • Conduct apartment visits and assist our clients in various kinds of case management. 

  • Assist in organisation of programmatic events e.g., workshops, focus group discussions, social events, etc 

  • Refer LGBTIQ Ukrainians to relevant and available local resources. 

  • Attend meetings on behalf of ORAM gGmbH and network while looking for possible avenues for collaboration.  

Desired Skills include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., international development, social work, refugee studies or human rights). 

  • Experience working in a project assistant or similar role, preferably in an NGO setting. 

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of issues facing LGBTIQ or marginalized and vulnerable groups fleeing conflict areas within the EU. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Familiarity with the NGO sector in Germany, specifically Berlin. 

  • Ability to network and conduct outreach. 

  • Empathy and professionalism. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German. 

  • Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is a plus. 

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
